About me
Je suis originaire de la République Démocratique du Congo mais j’ai aussi habité à Brazzaville, capitale du Congo voisin et au Gabon ou j’ai ensuite enseigné les sciences au niveau secondaire pendant de nombreuses années.
Arrivé au Canada en 1998, j’ai vécu pendant un an à Montréal (province du Québec) avant de déménager à Edmonton en vue de faire un BEd/AD (Baccalauréat après degré) au Campus Saint-Jean (CSJ) de l’université de l’Alberta. En 2005, j’ai obtenu une maîtrise en Éducation à la même université et ma thèse de recherche a porté sur l’intégration scolaire des jeunes des familles immigrantes francophones d’origine africaine noire à l’école secondaire francophone à Edmonton (Alberta).
J’ai aussi occupé le poste d’animateur éducatif et culturel (2001-2005) à l’Alliance Jeunesse Famille de l’Alberta Society (AJFAS). Suite à cette implication, j’ai constaté que certains des jeunes immigrants avec lesquels je travaillais avaient des difficultés à s’intégrer socialement à l’école en plus de rencontrer des problèmes sur le plan académique.
Pendant la même période, j’ai collaboré en qualité d’assistant de recherche à un projet sur «Les choix scolaires des parents francophones à Edmonton. »
Je suis le réalisateur associé du film documentaire KARIBUNI, et qui porte sur l’intégration des immigrants francophones d’Afrique noire dans les communautés francophones de l’ouest canadien. Ce documentaire a été diffusé fin mars 2007 à la télévision de Radio Canada dans l’ouest.
Je m’intéresse beaucoup aux questions d’intégration des personnes d’origine africaine noire francophone au Canada, principalement les jeunes.
Je suis retraité de la fonction publique du Canada mais je continue à travailler sur appel comme professeur suppléant avec le conseil scolaire catholique d’Edmonton.
