Myka has worked with Division I , II and III severely emotionally and behaviorally challenged students in both segregated and inclusive settings from 2001 to 2007. Myka was an instructor at the University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge and Bow Valley Collage offering instruction in working with students with behavior challenges. Myka’s research focuses on developing applied systems of positive behavioral interventions in school settings.
Her background in psychology provides her with a cognitive-behavioral approach to her research and her work with students with behavioral difficulties. As a professional speaker and behavior consultant, Myka has worked with educators for the past 15 years in developing positive interventions for students with behavioral challenges.
Myka has spoken at numerous conferences and workshops across Canada. Her expertise has contributed to notable educational publications such as ‘Behaviour Observation Assessment Teaching and Strategies’ and has co-authored the book
‘To Behave or Not to Behave - a Proactive Approach to Behaviour Management’. Myka currently provides both Clinical and Educational Psychological Support in person in Okotoks, and Canmore as well as tele-psychological services for all Albertians through
Piekenbrock Psychological Services.
